Sydney Saints Crusade 21 Day 4
We head into Day 4 of BPL21 with hope and optimism that our decent form can continue and some luck can go our way. Needing a 4&1 day to keep our finals hopes alive. The arrival of the Chairman and the CEO, brings with it renewed hope of a good performance.
Day 4 battles
Battle 16 – Ospreys
Very even first set highlighted by a top shot from Tex, turning off a toucher to create power play 6. Winning the set 7-4.
The second set sees consistent great bowls from the Saints and we dominate the set to win 7-3.
A great start to the day over the red-hot Osprey team.
Battle 17 – Suns🌞
Very evenly contested set on a challenging rink. Some big bowls at the right time and we sneak the set, 6-4.
An up and down set with some big bowls by Carl, holding set until a drive, a 6-11 loss.
Heart wrenching loss in the tie break with Jamie going through the hole 🕳️ twice.
Battle 18 – Pioneers
A tight first set with good bowls from Hewy and Tex, we hold on to win 5-3.
A tense and tight set 2, Dawnie and Tex playing good bowls to hold on 6-4.
Straight sets win.
Battle 19 – Jets ✈️
A power play 6 on end 4 and then an absolutely awesome bowl from Tex on the 5th end to trail for 4 and Saints win the set 11-3.
Played a great set, extremely unlucky with the last drive to drop a 2, 4-5 loss.
Tie break
Disco draws shot with the last bowl. Another heart-breaking tie-break loss.
Battle 20 – Extreme
A disappointing end to our night campaign with a 3-7, 3-7 loss. We never grabbed the conditions of the rink.
This leaves us 8 & 12 and no chance of playing finals. Two more battles to finish tomorrow. A solid campaign but a disappointing one. We have been close but that is not good enough in this competition. Some things to work on before Pine Rivers later in the year.
Thank you to Moama for being wonderful hosts.
