Sydney Saints Crusade 21 Day 1
Crusaders we are back again with another quest for the BPL Crown, version 21, the second for the mighty Sydney Saints. Back again questing for the BPL Crown are Lady Dawn, Sir Jamie & Sir Ben. Pulling the strings and leading the troops is King Jerry.
This quest is in the remote location of Moama in the beautiful Murray River country. It was quite a trek to get to this mighty battlefield, just ask Annette and Bob. We have a skeleton crew for day 1 for the quest for the BPL crown – we have the Aries, the Supples, the Wentworth-Perrys, the McPherson family and the Webbs, this will only grow over the next few days with the supreme leaders due in on Thursday to oversee the final stages of the plan to take the crown back to the home of the Saints.
Moama Bowling Club is a perfect venue for the fight for the BPL crown, the venue is amazing, and the club and staff is wholly behind this adventure.
Day 1 battles
Crusade 1- Adelaide Pioneers
Set 1 – In a high-quality game for game of the BPL, the Saints jumped out of the blocks to lead 4–1 going to end 5, unfortunately with both sides on a power play we dropped a 2 and lost the set 4-5.
Set 2 – Saints once again built a lead 5-3 going into the last end of the set, unfortunately we lost the end and dropped the set 5-7.
Crusade 2 – Gold Coast Hawks
Set 1 – A good game with the set being 3-3 going into the last end. Holding the set with the last bowl to come, Nicky Brett got jack in the ditch, and we lose the set 3-5. Becoming a recurring theme.
Set 2 – The nightmare continued, leading going into the final end and we drop a two to lose the set, 5-6. We are so close.
Game 3 – Moama Steamers
Set 1 – a change of tactics from the King with Lady Dawn moving to skipper, in an ultimately tied set we scored a 2 on the 5th end to tie 5-5. Great bowls from Sir Ben and Lady Dawn.
Set 2 – an amazingly tight set all the way. Going into to the last end 3-3, the winner of the set winning the game. Sir Jamie moved a back toucher, and The Saints were lucky enough to hold on and win their first game of BPL21. Here we come Crusaders.
Game 4 – Geelong Jets
Set 1 – The Saints continued with Sir Ben leading up and Lady Dawn skipping, they played an awesome first set and dominated 14-4 against the undefeated Jets.
Set 2 – With Sir Jamie coming in with Sir Ben going to skip, the Saints played awesome and dominated the set 9-5. Great display by all. They are starting to click.
Game 5 – Tweed Ospreys
Set 1 – Up against the defending champs, it was a set of the highest quality with all 4 players dazzling. The Saints won the set 4-3, scoring a one on the 5th end.
Set 2 – Another awesome set of bowls from the Saints with a six on end 4 after three crackers from Sir Ben and the Saints win 8-3.
A great fighting effort for the day after the disappointment of games 1 and 2 to finish the day positive with 3 wins was awesome.
King Jerry has Lady Dawn, Sir Jamie and Sir Ben starting to click. King Jerry has reverted to standing rather than sitting on his throne, long may that continue.
